2017-18 (Track): Ran just once on the season, racing the mile at the UW Invitational, crossing in 4:21.08 ... (Cross Country): Raced three times in the fall, starting with a ninth-place finish at the Sundodger Invitational in 24:44 … at the Dellinger Invite finished in 24:29 for 52nd-place, 10th on the squad … ran the B-race at the Wisconsin Invitational placing 82nd overall in 26:41 … a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2016-17 (Track): Competed three times during the indoor season and then redshirted the outdoor season … had a top 3,000-meters time of 8:28.33 at the UW Invitational … ran one 5k, taking second in his section, in a time of 14:42.26 ... (Cross Country): Redshirted his first season, competing twice unattached … finished 38th at the Washington Invitational unattached, crossing in 24:45 … also ran at the Sundodger, placing 33rd overall in 25:36.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle … parents are Julia and Don Strome … has one brother, Peter, and one sister, Sara … father and several other relatives attended Washington … father was an ultra-marathon runner and competed in Western States 100 … was the Texas 6A cross country state champion in 2014, and finished third at state in 2015 … ran at the 2015 USA Junior Cross Country Championships, finishing 15th over the 8,000-meters, and also ran at the championships in 2014, finishing 18th … won the Nike South Invitational 5k in 2015 in 15:31 … area champion on the track in 2016 in the 1,600m and 3,200m … as a junior in 2015, was sixth in the 3,200-meter state finals … third at the 2015 Texas Distance Festival in the 5,000m in 14:55 … ran at the 2014 Nike Cross Nationals and finished 86th … fourth at the Texas Relays as a senior in the 3,200m in 9:14.38 … has run the 10k distance, setting the 10k record at the Fort Worth Cowtown meet at 31:00 … graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
