2021: Coped with injury during the season, competing just three times outdoors … competed at Pac-12s but unable to clear a bar … indoors, competed unattached, getting a make of 16-6 ¾ at the UW Indoor Preview to take second … also made 16-3 ½ at the Husky Classic.

2020 (Indoor Track; Outdoor Season Canceled): Had a season-best clearance in the pole vault of 16-7 1/4 at the UW Indoor Preview … at the MPSF Championships, tied for 10th with a make of 16-1 3/4.

2019: Best pole vault clearance of his season was 16-6 to take second at the UW-WSU Dual … fourth at the Stanford Invitational with a make of 16-3 1/4 … indoors, was seventh at the MPSF Championships clearing 15-11 3/4 … fourth at the Last Chance Elite Meet going 16-4 1/2.

2018: Qualified for the NCAA West Prelims for the second straight year in the pole vault … matched his PR at the Beach Invitational as he cleared 17-0 ¾ … finished 10th at the Pac-12 Championships with a make of 16-0 ½ … was 38th at West Prelims with an opening height make of 15-11 … won the Ken Shannon Invite pole vault going 16-11 … took third at the UW-WSU Dual with a make of 16-1 ¼ … cleared 16-2 ¾ for third-place at the Pepsi Team Invite, held indoors due to weather … indoors, finished seventh at the MPSF Championships with an indoor season-best of 16-8 ¾ … also went 16-2 at the UW Invitational and 16-1 ¼ at the UW Indoor Preview … a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.

2017: A successful freshman season saw him score at the Pac-12 Championships and make the NCAA West Preliminaries in the pole vault … was one of four Huskies to clear 17-feet outdoors, as he made a new PR of 17-0 ¾ at the Beach Invitational … placed fifth at his first Pac-12 Championships in Eugene with a make of 16-3 ½ … made 15-11 at the NCAA West Prelims in Austin to finish 40th overall … tied for the victory at the rain-drenched UW-WSU Dual with a 15-5 vault … cleared 16-1 ¼ at the Texas Relays … indoors, also scored a point at the MPSF Championships with an eighth-place finish at 15-11 ¾ … made 16-9 ¼ at the UW Invitational for eighth-place, and also cleared 16-2 ¾ at the UW Indoor Preview in his first collegiate competition … a USTFCCCA All-Academic pick.

High School and Personal: Born in Seattle … parents are Shannon and Charlie Shugart … has two older brothers, Tyler and Nick, with Nick also attending Washington … father Charlie was a decathlete in college at Columbia … a two-time Washington 3A state champion in the pole vault, winning as a junior and a senior … cleared his personal-best of 16-8 during a dual meet during his senior season … had five clearances of 16-3 as a senior including at the state championships … won the 2015 World Youth Trials with a make of 16-2 ¾ and went on to compete at the World Youth Championships in Colombia, finishing 16th overall … also was second at state as a sophomore and fourth as a freshman … second at the 2016 Golden West Invite pole vault at 16-0 … jumped at the 2015 USA Junior Championships, going 15-9 for 10th, and was 11th athte 2016 USA Juniors with a 16-2 ¾ clearance.
