2018 (Track): Another impressive season to close out his collegiate career, highlighted by a First Team All-America honor indoors as he scored in the 3,000-meters for the third straight year and made the field for the fourth-straight … won the Tom Hansen Medal from the Pac-12, given to two seniors at each Pac-12 school for the best combination of athletics, academics and leadership … outdoors, reached the NCAA Outdoor final at 5,000-meters but had a tough race in his final one, finishing 22nd in Eugene for honorable mention All-America … dropped down to 1,500-meters at the Pac-12 Championships and finished sixth in the final in 3:46.40 … made NCAAs by taking sixth in the 5k at NCAA Prelims in Sacramento in 13:49.90 … season-best 5k of 13:41.88 at the Bryan Clay Invitational … got the win in the 1,500-meters at the Pepsi Team Invite in 3:48.64 … indoors, was seventh in the NCAA Championship 3k final in a time of 8:07.26 … qualified for NCAAs by winning the Husky Classic 3,000m in a time 7:49.42 … ran one mile indoors, finishing 13th in 4:02.54 at the Husky Classic … a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention ... 2016-17 (Track): Turned in a record-setting indoor season, breaking his own school records in the 3,000-meters and 5,000-meters and earning First Team and Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships … came out on fire during the indoor season, starting with a new PR in the mile of 3:58.96 at the UW Indoor Preview, fifth-fastest in school history … followed that up with a new school record in the 3,000-meters at the UW Invitational, getting the victory in 7:45.71, which was the fastest time in the NCAA in all of 2017 … next time out he broke the 5,000-meters school record in 13:34.85, the second-fastest time in the NCAA all season … at the NCAA Indoor meet, he struggled in the 5k on the first day, finishing 15th overall, but bounced back in the 3,000-meters on day two, finishing fifth-place for his best NCAA finish to date, crossing in 7:59.41 to earn First Team All-America honors … only competed at two meets outdoors, but opened with another impressive 5k time of 13:38.68, just off his outdoor school record … got two victories at the UW-WSU Dual to help the Huskies get the team win, winning the 1,500m in 3:49.34 and the 3,000m in 8:17.70 ... (Cross Country): Led the Huskies at the first two races of the season and ran in the top-four at all five meets … opened the season with a victory at the Sundodger Invitational, crossing first in 23:38 … also led the Huskies at the Washington Invitational with a fifth-place finish in 23:29 … was in the lead group for most of the Wisconsin Invitational but had a tough final stretch to finish 63rd overall, second on the team … was third on the squad at the Pac-12 meet in 45th place … was 76th overall at West Regional Championships, fourth on the team.
2015-16 (Track): Became UW’s first Pac-12 5,000-meter champion in school history at Husky Track, taking over the race over the last two laps and breaking the Husky school record in the process, running 13:35.20 for one of the fastest winning times in meet history ... advanced through to his first NCAA Outdoor meet by taking third in his 5,000m quarterfinal heat at West Prelims in 14:12.25 ... a tough day at the NCAA Outdoor meet, as he finished 13th in the 5,000-meters with a time of 13:54.45 to earn All-America Second Team accolades … opened his outdoor season with a PR and a victory in the 5k at the Pepsi Team Invitational, running 13:44.96, the second-fastest time in school history, and winning Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week honors as well ... won both the 1,500m and 3,000m at the UW-WSU Dual, taking the 1,500m in 3:48.00 and the 3k in 8:32.35 ... reached the NCAA Indoor meet in two events and earned First Team All-America honors in the 3,000-meters, taking eighth in 8:02.83 and led off the DMR which took second in 9:28.00, the fastest runner-up time in meet history ... ran the anchor leg on the DMR that broke the school record at the Alex Wilson Invite in 9:27.19, the eighth-fastest time in NCAA history and No. 2 time in the NCAA during the regular season ... posted a 3,000-meter time of 7:50.96 to qualify for NCAAs in the 3k for the second straight year ... broke the four-minute mile barrier for the first time, running 3:59.84 at the UW Invitational to become the sixth Husky under four minutes ... (Cross Country): Earned his first cross country All-America honor, and did it despite racing just three times … started his racing season at the Pac-12 Championships, then helped UW win its first West Regional title and place eighth at the NCAA Championships, the second-best finish in program history … became an All-American with a 32nd-place finish at the national championships in 30:20, one second behind teammate Izaic Yorks as the pair led the Dawgs … earned All-Region honors with a 12th-place finish at West Regionals in 31:21, the No. 3 Husky finisher, as the Huskies won in Seattle … was 18th at the Pac-12 Championships, the second Husky across the line, in his first race of the year, helping UW finish fourth.
2014-15 (Track): Enjoyed an outstanding indoor season, but was limited to just two races outdoors ... earned All-America Second Team honors indoors, making the NCAA Championships at 3,000-meters and finishing 13th overall ... was the only freshman in the NCAA Indoor 3k field ... broke the Washington 3,000-meters school record in his first run at the distance, going 7:49.25 at the Husky Classic to finish third overall in an elite field ... ran the anchor leg on the DMR at the MPSF Championships, helping the team to a third-place finish in 9:34.81, the No. 3 time in school history ... opened his track season with a 4:00.62 mile time at the UW Invitational, moving to No. 7 on the Husky top-10 list ... did not make his outdoor debut until the UW-WSU Dual in May, where he won the 3,000m in 8:11.73 ... placed 11th in the 5,000m at the Pac-12 Championships in 14:15.15 ... (Cross Country): Named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, the first Husky men’s runner to win a Pac-12 postseason honor … earned his Freshman of the Year award by finishing as the top freshman at the Pac-12 Championships, as he was 17th overall in 24:11 … had a tough day at his first NCAA Championships, finishing 195th and fifth on the team … fifth on the team as well at NCAA West Regionals, taking 43rd … was the second Husky finisher at the Wisconsin Invitational, in 53rd-place, in 24:21 … made his official debut at the Washington Invite, placing 51st overall, sixth on the team … a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2013-14 (Track): Redshirted the track season, but still had a memorable year, as he captured the 2014 U.S. Junior Championships 5,000-meters title to qualify for the IAAF World Junior Championships … running for Team USA at World Juniors in Eugene, he took ninth overall, matching the best finish ever by an American, in a time of 14:09.98 ... at U.S. Juniors at Hayward Field, he used a big sprint after a tactical race to take the win in 14:21.46 … ran unattached several times outdoors, with a big 1,500-meters PR of 3:45.41 at the Portland Track Festival on June 15 … ran unattached at the Stanford Invitational, earning a 5,000m PR of 14:07.13 ... also took second in the Oregon Relays B-flight with a 1,500m time of 3:49.44 … ran a 10,000-meters on the track at the Ken Shannon Invitational, winning in 30:35.58 … did not compete during the indoor season ... (Cross Country): Redshirted the season but ran very well unattached in three appearances … finished 20th overall at the Bill Dellinger Invite, and would have been the No. 2 Husky finisher if competing attached … won the Emerald City Open at Woodland Park in a time of 25:20 … first race was a 17th-place finish at the Sundodger Invite in 24:25.
High School and Personal: Born in Vancouver, Washington ... parents are Carolynne and Colby Gilbert ... has one brother, Chanse ... both parents ran collegiately at Portland ... one of the top distance runners in the state ... was one of five Husky commits that finished one through five in the 3,200m finals at the 2013 Washington 4A state meet, taking third overall ... ran his 3,200m PR of 8:58.48 in the state finals ... also took ninth at state as a senior in the 1,600-meters ... the GSHL and West Central District champion at 1,600m and 3,200m in 2013 ... in cross country, he closed out his career with a third-place finish at the 4A state meet ... was fifth at the 2012 BorderClash, helping the Washington team to the win ... also took eighth at the state cross country championships as a junior in 2011 ... ran a 3k time of 8:26.29 at the Oregon Relays that ranked 22nd nationally in 2013 ... as a junior on the track, was 15th at 4A state in both the 1,600m and 3,200m ... made state on the track for the first time as a sophomore, finishing 13th in the 3,200m.
