2019: Scored at the Pac-12 Championships once again in his final season, as he finished seventh at the conference meet with a clearance of 16-5 1/2 โฆ third in the invite section at the Stanford Invitational with a make of 16-3 1/4 โฆ cleared 16-6 at the UW-WSU Dual for fourth-place โฆ indoors, matched his career-best with a make of 16-11 1/2 at the UW Invitational โฆ fourth at the Husky Classic, clearing 16-0 3/4.
2018: Scored once again at both conference championships indoors and out and advanced to a second NCAA West Preliminaries in the pole vault โฆ got a second straight top-five finish at the Pac-12 Championships, as he took fifth in the vault at 16-6 ยฝ โฆ tied for 30th at the NCAA West Prelims with a make of 15-11 โฆ took second at the Trojan Invitational with an outdoor season-best make of 16-8 ยพ โฆ second at the UW-WSU Dual with a clearance of 16-5 ยผ โฆ also cleared 16-5 ยผ for second at the Ken Shannon Invitational โฆ indoors, had a new indoor PR of 16-11 ยฝ at the Husky Classic to take second โฆ tied for eighth at the MPSF Championships by going 16-4 ยพ โฆ made 16-8 at the UW Invitational for fifth-place โฆ earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2017: Had his most successful season to date, making the podium at the Pac-12 Championships and making the 17-foot mark for the first time โฆ the top scorer for the Dawgs in the pole vault at Pac-12s, finishing third with a clearance of 16-3 ยฝ โฆ advanced to his first NCAA West Prelims and cleared 16-10 ยพ to tie for 25th overall โฆ had a new PR of 17-0 ยพ at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate โฆ won the Ken Shannon Invite with a make of 16-7 ยฝ โฆ cleared 16-7 ยผ at the Texas Relays โฆ indoors, took sixth at the MPSF Championships with a make of 15-11 ยพ โฆ won the SPU Final Qualifier with a season-best of 16-9 ยฝ ย โฆ named a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2016: Set new PRs indoors and out in his first full season โฆ outdoors jumped a best of 16-7 ยฝ in the vault at the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Invite in Tempe, taking third โฆ also cleared 16-6 ยพ at the Mt. SAC Relays โฆ third at the Ken Shannon Invite with a make of 16-0 ยพ โฆ indoors, tied for 16th at the MPSF Championships at 15-10 โฆ new indoor PR of 16-8 came at the Husky Classic โฆ a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2015: Redshirted the season, competing several times unattached in the pole vault โฆ ended his season competing at the U.S. Junior Championships in Eugene, finishing eighth with a clearance of 16-0 ยพ that matched his PR โฆ also cleared 16-0 ยพ unattached at the Ken Shannon Invitational โฆ indoors, competed four times, with a best make of 15-11 ยพ at the Husky Classic, placing ninth.
High School and Personal: Born in Anchorage, Alaska โฆ parents are Robin and William Black โฆ has one younger brother, Jarrod โฆ the Washington 2A state pole vault champion as a senior in 2014 โฆ jumped a PR of 15-6 to win the Northwest Conference title and then matched that at the state meet โฆ also finished fifth in the pole vault at state as a junior and fourth as a sophomore โฆ named a Whatcom All-County Athlete in 2013 and 2014 โฆ also lettered three years in football and four years in wrestling โฆ won 2012 wrestling Hardest Worker award and the 2014 Phil Millard Character Award in football โฆ an Eagle Scout โฆ graduated with a 3.72 GPA.
