Washington To Host Seattle U For Season Opener
November 02, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — Washington women's basketball (0-0, 0-0) opens the 2025-26 season in Alaska Airlines Arena on Monday, Nov. 3 when it hosts Seattle U (0-0, 0-0) for a 5:00 p.m. PT tip off. The Huskies enter the game with two of their players (Elle Ladine and Sayvia Sellers) selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team.
This is the 27th all-time meeting between the two programs, one that UW leads 23-3. The last meeting between the two schools came last November, which Washington won handedly, 95-53 — marking the largest margin of victory in series history. The game will be aired on B1G+ with Jason Dorow (Play-By-Play) and Elise Woodward (Analyst) on the call. Gary Hill Jr. will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.
LAST YEAR
The Huskies ended a seven-year drought and clinched an NCAA Tournament berth after an impressive Big Ten debut. Washington led the conference in field goal percentage (49.5%), 3-point percentage (40.1%), and free throw percentage (83.6%) during conference play last season. Elle Ladine was named All-Big Ten Second Team, while Sayvia Sellers and Dalayah Daniels were named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.
BAND'S BACK TOGETHER
Washington returns eight members from last season's team, including four starters — guard Sayvia Sellers, guard Hannah Stines, guard Elle Ladine, and guard Chloe Briggs. Additionally, the Huskies bring back guard Devin Coppinger, guard Teagan Brown, forward Shayla Gillmer, and forward Olivia Anderson. Sellers and Ladine both received 2024-25 postseason and 2025-26 preseason honors from the Big Ten Conference.
NEW FACES
Washington women's basketball welcomed three new Huskies on National Signing Day with ESPN.com's No. 14-ranked recruiting class. This is the third top 15 class in the last four seasons for Coach Langley and her staff. UW added four standouts to the program with Brynn McGaughy, Nina Cain, Sienna Harvey, and Daniella McLean, along with two transfers with Big Ten experience in Avery Howell (USC) and Yulia Grabovskaia (Michigan).
SCOUTING REPORT
Seattle U is in its third season under head coach Skyler Young, who finished with a 4-26 record last season. Over the offseason, the Redhawks added eight new faces, including five transfers.
