Bio
Nina Cain joins the Huskies after cementing her status as one of the top players in Northern California. With McClatchy High School in Sacramento, California, Cain averaged 18.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks her senior season, leading her team to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section title over Folsom in the Golden 1 Center. Her best performance of the season came in that championship, when she recorded 22 points and collected 12 rebounds to lead the Lions. The Sacramento Bee recognized Cain as their 2025 Player of the Year, the second consecutive season she was awarded the honor. Considered a four-star prospect by 24/7 Sports, ESPNW listed Cain as the No. 72 recruit in the 2025 class.
The double-digit scoring average allowed Cain to shatter McClatchy’s previous point record with 2,016. She became the first player in school history to surpass the 2,000-point threshold. She was a consistent presence on the glass as well, collecting 990 rebounds during her high school tenure. A versatile player, Cain led McClatchy High School to a perfect record in conference play her junior season, going 12-0. Her squad finished the season 26-7 overall, powered by Cain’s 23.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She competed for JBS Basketball on the club circuit.
PERSONAL
Nina is the daughter of Sarah and Willy Cain. She has a brother, Eli. Cain’s grandfather, George Brown, was an All-American track and field star at UCLA who was considered the world’s top long jumper from 1951 to 1953. He competed in the 1952 Olympic Games.
