Washington Women’s Basketball Falls To UCLA In Big Ten Tournament
March 06, 2026 | Women's Basketball
INDIANAPOLIS — The Washington women's basketball team held UCLA to a season-low for points in a quarter with six points in the first, but fell to the Bruins, 78-60, on Friday in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Four different Dawgs finished in double-figures, with Avery Howell pacing the group with 18 points. Brynn McGaughy delivered 12, and Sayvia Sellers and Elle Ladine recorded another 10 points.
McGaughy has enjoyed immense success against the No. 2 team in the nation this season, recording a combined 31 points in the two meetings with the Bruins. The true freshman also dished out three assists, snatched two rebounds, and recorded a steal.
In 20 games against Big Ten opponents this season, Howell has finished in double-figures 14 times. The sophomore finished 7-for-11 from the field with four rebounds.
Sellers stuffed the stat sheet in her 40 minutes of action — finishing with eight assists, three rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Sellers is the first player since Kelsey Plum with consecutive 100-assist seasons.
Ladine was impressive on the boards, pulling down seven. She continues to play at her best on the road, finishing in double figures in nine of the 13 games she's played in this season.
Defensively, UCLA was unable to get anything going from behind the 3-point line. They finished the afternoon making just one shot from behind the arc — a mark that ties its season-low.
Up next, Washington has a break before the NCAA Tournament. Selection Sunday is set for 3:00 p.m. PST on Sunday, March 15.
