2021 (Track): Ran once during the indoor season, focusing more on cross country, but clocked a 5,000m PR of 13:54.76 โฆ did not compete outdoors ... (Cross Country): Top-seven on the squad at all three meets as the Huskies placed 25th at the NCAA Championships โฆ finished 216th overall at the NCAA Championships, sixth on the squad โฆ was 21st at the Pac-12 Championships, the No. 6 Husky, helping the team take third overall โฆ the third Husky finisher at the Silver State Invite, placing 15th overall.
2019-20 (Indoor Track; Outdoor Season Canceled): Competed three times during the indoor season, starting with a 3k at the UW Invitational in 8:18.57 โฆ had a PR in the mile of 4:09.67 at the Husky Classic ...ย (Cross Country): A strong close to his sophomore season, scoring for the Huskies at the West Regional and National Championship meets โฆ at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, finished 104th overall as the No. 2 Husky finisher in a time of 32:00 to help the team place 19th overall โฆ was the No. 4 scorer at West Regionals, placing 33rd overall in 30:36 to help UW qualify for NCAAs โฆ at the Pac-12 meet was 45th overall and eighth on the squad โฆ seventh on the squad and 80th overall at Pre-Nationals in 24:40 โฆ first race was the John Payne Invite where he took third overall in 24:49.
2018-19 (Track): Turned in an outstanding freshman season in the steeplechase, winning the USATF U20 Championship in June to qualify for the Pan America U20 Championships โฆ broke the UW freshman record in the steeplechase that had stood since 1976 when he ran 8:43.23 at NCAA West Prelims in Sacramento, finishing 13th overall to just miss a trip to NCAA Outdoors by one spot, and going to No. 9 in school history โฆ scored at his first Pac-12 Championships with a fifth-place finish in the steeple in 9:06.95 โฆ ran a 15-second PR at the Cardinal Classic, taking fourth in the steeple in 8:53.96 โฆ took third in the steeple at the UW-WSU Dual in 9:08.13 โฆ ran one 1,500-meters, going 3:49.72 at the Ken Shannon Invite โฆ indoors, ran a mile season-best of 4:11.11 at the Last Chance Elite Meet โฆ ran a 3k in 8:17.22 at the Husky Classic โฆ opened his track season with a 2:30.41 time in the 1,000-meters at the UW Indoor Preview ...ย (Cross Country): Raced twice in his first collegiate season โฆ traveled to the Pre-Nationals at Wisconsin and ran in the B race, finishing ninth overall in 25:03 โฆ also ran at the Battle In Beantown and was ninth on the squad and 93rd-place overall.
High School and Personal: Born in Portland, Oregon โฆ parents are Jan and Todd Slenning โฆ has one older brother, Nick, who runs track for Pacific University (Ore.) beginning in 2016 โฆ one of the top mid-distance recruits in his class, as he capped his senior season with a big 1,500m PR of 3:49.58 at the Portland Track Festival, ranking third in the nation at that distance โฆ that came after he won his first Oregon 6A state track title in the 1,500m in spring of 2018, winning in 3:55.96, and also took runner-up in the 3,000m final in 8:32.42 โฆ captured the 2017 Oregon 6A State Championship in cross country โฆ won the Portland Interscholastic League XC title as a senior and was PIL 3,000m Champion on the track in 2016 and 2017 โฆ third at the 6A XC state meet as a junior โฆ ran at UW's Dempsey Indoor in 2018, running a 3k in 8:36.96 to take second at the UW High School Invitational โฆ ran everything from 4x400m relay carries to 800-meters up to the 3,000-meter steeplechase โฆ as a sophomore he ran a 3k PR of 8:26.41 to take fifth at the Oregon state track meet.
