GETTING TO KNOW COLE FONTENELLE
WHY COLE LOVES BASEBALL:Β It gives me an opportunity to compete head to head with an opponent and there is no greater feeling in the world than squaring a ball up perfectly.
Β
WHY WASHINGTON:Β I felt that I would be developed as a person and a player by the coaches, the facilities and resources were the best that Iβd seen, and I wanted to compete against some of the best players in the country.
Β Β
FAVORITE PLAYER:Β Ichiro: His work ethic and his ability to put up insane numbers every year inspired me. I am also of Japanese descent.
Β
Coach Meggs on Fontenelle:Β Cole is a 6-foot-3 switch-hitting infielder from Skyline High School who we believe is the most accomplished hitter in his class in the state of Washington.Β Β With Coleβs ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark and drive in runs, I expect him to come in and compete for at bats immediately.Β Β And while Cole is certainly an offensive player, he has a chance to be a solid corner infielder as well.Β Β With all that said, we think Cole will be an impact guy the minute he gets here.
