
Washington To Conclude Regular Season on the Road

SEATTLE -- After sweeping the Oregon schools at home, Washington women's basketball (15-11, 7-9) hits the road to finish up the regular season in Los Angeles. First up is at USC (19-8, 9-7) for the second meeting of the season between the programs. The game tips off Thursday, Feb. 23 at 8:00 p.m. PT and will be aired on Pac-12 Los Angeles with Trey Bender and Maylana Martin Douglas on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.

This was Washington's first win over Oregon since 2016, and the first win at home since 2015. Every Husky who played, scored. Lauren Schwartz led the team in scoring with 13 points. Haley Van Dyke led the team with nine rebounds. UW forced 15 turnovers on an Oregon squad who had only been averaging a little over 12 per game. UW out-rebounded Oregon 33-29. UW's FG% on the game was 48% while holding Oregon to 39%.

Washington returns eight Huskies from last season with Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, Haley Van Dyke, Nia Lowery, TT Watkins, Trinity Oliver, Lexi Griggsby, and Darcy Rees. Fans will see six new faces on the team this season, as the Huskies welcomed four freshmen from California - Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine - and two transfers, Dalayah Daniels (Cal) and Emma Grothaus (Lehigh).
2023 Signing Class
Washington women's basketball welcomed four new Huskies on National Signing Day (11.09.22) with ESPN.com's 14th-ranked recruiting class. This is the second class in a row ranked in the Top 15 that Coach Langley and staff have signed. The Huskies added four standouts to the program with Olivia Anderson, Chloe Briggs, Ari Long, and Sayvia Sellers.
On November 15, the Atlanta Tipoff Club named Long and Sellers to the 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watch List. Long and Sellers are two of the 50 girls named to the watch list. On January 11, Sellers was one of 25 named to the Naismith High School Midseason Team. On January 11, Briggs, Long, and Sellers were named 2023 McDonald's All American Games Nominees.

Van Dyke earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, and Grothaus was one of 20 players named to the 2023 Lisa Lisa Award Watch List.

With seven seconds remaining in regulation, Lauren Schwartz sunk a three-pointer – her fourth of the game – to tie the game. Haley Van Dyke got a steal as USC tried to counter, and the clock expired, forcing overtime. UW out-rebounded the Trojans 34-31 UW forced 20 turnovers against a USC team that had been averaging 14.4 per game in conference play. Dalayah Daniels led the team in scoring with 17, her highest scoring game in conference play (at the time). The Huskies ended up dropping the tough contest in overtime.
