ACCOLADES:
2021-22: Grothaus transferred to the Huskies from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, P.A.. Although new to the team, she has quickly proven to be a leader on the court as she takes the time to get to know her teammates and learn the system. She enters the 2022-23 season averaging 12.6 points and 9.2 rebounds.
Lehigh: Emma Grothaus was a key leader on the Lehigh roster for her four year stint with the Mountain Hawks. As a freshman, Grothaus started in all 31 games and led all freshmen in points, rebounds, blocks, minutes, and steals per game. She earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors twice during the 2018-19 season. Her impact on the team was felt so greatly that she was named team captain during the 2020-21 campaign, her junior season. That season she led the Mountain Hawks to their fourth Patriot League title in program history as the Patriot League Tournament MVP and member of the All-Tournament team, averaging 14.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game. She netted her 1,000th career point during her senior campaign, Grothaus ended her career ranking 21st in all-time scoring with 1,014 points and becoming only the seventh player in program history to reach 1,000+ points and 600+ rebounds. She finished season among Patriot League leaders in rebounding, finishing fifth, while ranking second in field goal percentage (44.8%), and second in blocked shots per game (1.8)
High School: Grothaus was an ESPN Top 100 recruit and 2018 McDonald’s All-American nominee. She was also a five-time varsity starter and two-year team captain, and ended her high school career at Mahtomedi holding the school record for career points (1,890), rebounds (1,061), and blocks (196). She was also named 2018 AA all-state, 2017 AAA all-state honorable mention, 2018 All-USA Minnesota Girls Basketball First Team, 2018 Metro East Conference Player of the Year, 2018 First Team Star Tribune All-Metro, and three-time All-Metro East Conference.
Personal: Grothaus graduated from Lehigh in spring 2022 with a bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. She is now pursuing a Master’s of Science in Information Management, specializing in User Experience at the University of Washington Information School. She is the daughter of Patrick Grothaus, and has one brother, Jacob.
