Ladine Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week
February 06, 2023 | Women's Basketball
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Washington women's basketball freshman guard Elle Ladine has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Ladine receives her first weekly honor from the Pac-12 after the Huskies completed the sweep of the Bay Area schools over the weekend in Alaska Airlines Arena, including a big win over then-No. 2 Stanford. The win over Stanford was the first time since 2016 the Huskies defeated the Cardinal, the same season the Huskies got their last Top-5 win (No. 5 Maryland).
The San Francisco, Calif. native put up big numbers during the homestand. On Friday vs. California, Ladine tied her career high (at the time) 10 points off 50% shooting, also recording three rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes played. On Sunday vs. then-No. 2 Stanford, Ladine came off the bench to lead all scorers with a career high 21 points off 47% shooting. She also recorded three assists and a career high three steals in 28 minutes.
This is the 15th time a Husky has been named Freshman of the Week, and Ladine becomes the sixth UW freshman to receive the honor.
The last time a Husky player received a weekly Pac-12 honor – also a Freshman of the Week honor – was at the beginning of the 2020-21 season.
