Washington Loses Tough Defensive Battle to USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Washington women's basketball team (15-12, 7-10) fell 43-47 to USC (20-8, 10-7) Thursday night on the road.
It was a nail-biting second half at the Galen Center. In the third quarter, the Huskies started out strong, going on a 7-0 run. In the fourth quarter, freshman Elle Ladine hit a three-pointer with 51 seconds left to play to bring UW within four points.
The Huskies never gave up. Ladine hit another three with 4.7 seconds on the clock to put UW within one. She finished the game leading the Huskies in scoring with nine points.
It was a defensive battle for both teams. The Husky defense kept the Trojans shooting 28.3%, well under their average. USC's 47 points tied their second-lowest scoring of this season.
Washington out-rebounded USC 43-33, with Dalayah Daniels leading the Huskies with seven rebounds.
Up next for the Huskies, Washington stays in Los Angeles to take on No. 17 UCLA for the regular season finale Saturday at 12 p.m.
