2025 Outdoors: Impressive first season capped by earning Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors with a fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships … ran a 400m hurdles PR of 51.00 in the Big Ten Outdoor prelims, going to No. 10 in school history … qualified for NCAA Prelims, and advanced through round one with a 51.11 time, then finished 17th overall in the quarterfinals in 51.21 … won the collegiate section of the 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays in 51.10 … helped UW capture its first ever men’s Penn Relays Championship of America, running the 400m leg on the winning DMR, splitting 46.08 on his leg … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
2025 Indoors: Part of UW’s fastest DMR in world history and NCAA history, running the 400m leg on the team that went 9:14.10 to win the Husky Classic … also ran the 400m leg on the DMR that won the Big Ten Indoor Championship in 9:31.75 … earned Second Team All-America honors on the DMR, running the 400m leg at NCAA Indoors on Mar. 14 as the squad finished 11th in 9:31.11 … ran the 600m at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, placing 11th … indoor season-best 400-meters of 47.12 (converted from 47.01 for altitude), good for No. 8 in school history … set a School Record in his first meet in the Dempsey, running the 600-meters in 1:16.48 at the UW Preview.
High School and Personal: Ambodai Ligons … born in Apopka, Florida … parents are Tanita and Frank Ligons … has two older brothers, Jalani and Akili … father played baseball at University of Pittsburgh … valedictorian of his high school … helped team win three-straight CIF D3 Championships … a two-time All-State selection in California … fourth at the California state championships in the 800m as a senior in 1:51.50, and was state runner-up as a junior in 2023 in 1:52.36 … two-time Del Rey League and CIF-SS Masters Champion at 800-meters … part of the 2022 Nike Indoor National 4x400m champions … ran the 800m leg on 3rd-place DMR at the 2024 Nike Indoor Nationals … part of a sprint medley relay that took second at the 2022 Nike Outdoor Nationals … ran on the 4x400m relay that won both the 2022 Arcadia Invite and the Mt.
