
Washington Closes Road Trip With Big Win At Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Washington women's basketball team (13-4, 3-3 Big Ten) used an exceptional shooting night to take an 82-63 victory over Indiana (11-8, 0-7 Big Ten) on Wednesday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
The Huskies recorded their best shooting percentage since Dec. 13, 2020 — knocking down 64.3 percent of their shots. UW's 54.5 percent mark from behind the 3-point line was its best of the season.
Washington's 82 points were tied for the most allowed by Indiana to a Big Ten opponent this season. The Huskies recorded a staggering 54 points in the paint and dished out 20 assists.
UW outrebounded the Hoosiers 32 to 20 and spent most of the evening in transition — notching 23 fastbreak points off of 15 Indiana turnovers. The Huskies recorded five blocks and six steals.
Four different Huskies finished in double digits. Washington's top scorer was Elle Ladine, who recorded 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. Thursday marks Ladine's sixth game finishing with 10 or more points this season. Yulia Grabovskaia registered 16 points and five rebounds.
Freshman Brynn McGaughy added 13 points and four rebounds while Sayvia Sellers recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Hannah Stines led the Huskies with six assists in the win. In addition, on Washington's second bucket of the game, Sellers recorded her 250th career assist.
Washington jumped out to an early 24-13 lead in the first quarter, holding the Hoosiers to only three buckets. Ladine and Avery Howell each knocked down a 3-pointer, while the Huskies dished out seven assists. UW forced five turnovers and scored eight points off of those.
The Huskies extended the lead to 41-31 entering the halfway point. Stines led Washington with six points, knocking down three buckets while dishing out an assist.
From there, UW recorded its most productive quarter of the night — shooting 81.8 percent from the field to outscore IU 20-16. Grabovskaia continued to stack points in the paint for the Huskies, notching eight points on 4-for-4 shooting. Washington registered seven rebounds and six assists.
Washington closed the game with 21 points in the fourth quarter. McGaughy scored seven of her points in the closing stretch, including the second 3-pointer of her career. The Huskies continued to stifle the Hoosiers defensively, notching two blocks and three steals.
Up next, Washington returns home for a meeting with Minnesota on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 3:00 p.m.
