Dawgs Fall In Big Ten Tourney Second Round To No. 5 Michigan

INDIANAPOLIS – The Washington women's basketball team (19-13, 9-9 Big Ten) fell in the second round of Big Ten Tournament play Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 5 seed Michigan 66-58 inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Dalayah Daniels and Elle Ladine combined for 38 of the Huskies' 58 points, with Daniels matching a season-high 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting (76.9%).
Ladine added 16 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Sayvia Sellers chipped in 11 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals.
Scoring was back-and-forth between Washington and the Wolverines (21-9 11-7 Big Ten), with Michigan maintaining a one-point lead (14-13) after one, and at halftime (29-28). The Huskies held Michigan scoreless for the first 5:01 of the second quarter.
Daniels delivered her ninth double-double of the season with 22 to go along with 10 boards, four assists, two blocks, and a steal. She nearly achieved it by halftime, with 10 points and seven rebounds through 20 minutes of action.
Michigan endured a 13-0 run during the third quarter while the Huskies struggled to score for over five minutes before Ladine ended the scoring draught with a jumper in the lane. The junior had seven third quarter points.
The Dawgs outscored the Wolverines 17-14 in the final frame, highlighted by a pair of and-one plays from Daniels who was a perfect 3-for-3 in the quarter. Daniels and Ladine combined for 15 of the final 17 points for
Washington.
After winning five of their last six and notching four Quad 1 victories on the season, the Huskies are poised for their first NCAA berth since 2017. Washington will await its NCAA tournament fate as the Selection Show will be hosted on Sunday, March 16. The show will be aired on ESPN at 5 p.m. PT.
