Dempsey Indoor
Heat SheetsΒ | 200/400 Heat SheetsΒ |Β Final Meet ScheduleΒ |Β Accepted EntriesΒ |Β Meet Information SEATTLE β The second Dempsey meet is at hand this Friday and Saturday as Washington hosts the annual UW Invitational. The meet, in its 24th consecutive year, further brings the indoor season into focus, with athletes building on season openers and hitting full stride.
Β
Friday's competition begins at 12 noon in the field and 2 p.m. on the track, with the first multi-events of the season also getting underway at 1 p.m. Action will run until approximately 8 p.m. Friday night. Saturday picks up again at 10 a.m. and should conclude around 4 p.m.
Washington's impressive first home weekend helped the men's team debut at No. 5 nationally in the first USTFCCCA rankings which came out on Tuesday.
Β
Several Husky All-Americans are scheduled to have their Dempsey Indoor debuts this weekend. Chloe Foerster is entered in the 800m and the mile, Amina Maatoug is in the mile and the 3k, Amanda and Hana Moll are both set to pole vault after each cleared 15-3 at the National Pole Vault Summit two weeks ago. Scott Toney also makes his Dempsey debut after vaulting at the Summit last time out. And decathlon All-American Jami Schlueter is entered in his first heptathlon of the season.
Β
Saturday's miles on both the women's and men's sides should be thrillers once again. Mia Cochran will look to improve on the 4:33 PR she ran in her Husky debut at the Preview, and Claire Yerby is also coming off her 4:35 PR. Foerster was an NCAA Indoor qualifier in the mile last year after setting the school record at 4:28.14.
Β
The men will have three of the nine men who went sub-four two weeks ago running the mile again: Leo Daschbach, Jamar Distel, and Acer Iverson. Ronan McMahon-Staggs and Cole Lindhorst are dropping down in distance to the 800-meters, while Rhys Hammond and Thom Diamond are going up to the 3k.
Β
At the Preview, the Huskies won all four of the men's jump events, so looking to extend those win streaks will be Prestin Artis in the long jump, Leland Lieberg in the high jump, Simon Park in the pole vault, and Trevontay Smith in the triple jump.
