Huskies’ Balanced Scoring Secures Win Over Pacific

SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 Big Ten) showcased another well-balanced offense Thursday night as the Dawgs ran to an 81-50 win over Pacific (1-1, 0-0 WCC) inside Alaska Airlines Arena.
Sayvia Sellers led the Huskies with 17 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. She also dished out four assists to go along with two rebounds, and two steals.
Elle Ladine, along with Sellers, notched her second straight double-digit scoring performance in as many games, finishing the evening with 12.
Hannah Stines stuffed the stats sheet on both ends of the floor, recording eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a career-high five steals in 27 minutes of action.
After leading by just seven at the end of the first quarter (18-11), the Huskies limited Pacific to just eight second quarter points to extend the Husky halftime lead to 17.
Washington continued to pile on the offense in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 26-20 while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and draining four threes.
The Dawgs held Pacific to 11 fourth quarter points, keeping the Tigers to 11 or fewer points in three quarters.
The Huskies converted 22 Tiger turnovers to 15 points. 16 UW offensive boards gave way to 15 second chance points while giving up just three to Pacific.
For the second straight game, every Dawg who entered the game put points on the board.
Shayla Gillmer upped her career-high to eight points tonight, connecting on two corner triples in as many tries, while also pulling down four rebounds.
In her second game at Washington, Tayra Eke registered eight points, six rebounds, and an assist.
Dalayah Daniels also added nine points, four boards, an assist, and a steal.
Washington recorded 12 steals Thursday, the third straight game with 10+ takeaways dating back to UW's final game of the 2023-24 season against Georgetown.
The Huskies have opened the season shooting 39.5 percent from behind the arc, connecting on 19 threes on 48 attempts across their first two games.
