Washington Blocks Record 16 Shots, Defeats Prairie View A&M 65-50

SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team (6-1, 0-0 Big Ten) picked up its fifth straight win in as many games inside Alaska Airlines Arena, defeating Prairie View A&M, 65-50 Friday afternoon.
Washington held the Panthers to 50 points, its sixth game this season holding an opponent to under 60 points – all six of them wins.
The Dawgs set records Friday both as a team and individually, recording a school record 16 blocks as a team. It marked the most by a Husky team since 2017 (11 blocks).
Tayre Eke led the way with a career-high eight blocked shots, the most in a game by a player at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The senior added seven points and tied her career-best 14 rebounds.
Dalayah Daniels also had herself a night on both ends of the floor, delivering her first double-double of the season with 11 points, 11 rebounds, a career-high six blocks, two assists, and a steal.
Tonight was her 19th career double-double (15th at UW) as she now sits at 121 blocks at UW, just 24 blocks away from moving into second all-time in Washington history.
Nine Dawgs scored Friday, with three in double-digits, led by Sayvia Sellers who notched 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting in her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season.
The sophomore also added three assists, three rebounds, and a steal.
Elle Ladine added 12 points, two rebounds, and a steal, with seven of her points coming in the fourth quarter.
The Dawgs outrebounded the Panthers with a 48-30 advantage, holding Prairie View A&M to just 30.4 percent shooting (21-for-69) and 20 percent (2-for-10) from behind the arc.
Washington's 48 boards were its most this season and its highest mark since Feb. 16, 2023 a season ago.
The Dawgs head to the Bahamas next for a matchup with the 7th-ranked LSU Tigers on Monday, Nov. 25 in the first game of the Pink Flamingo Championship. Tipoff is set for 10:30 a.m. PT.
