2024: Reached the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second year in a row and competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m hurdles β¦ made the semifinals of the Olympic Trials after running 50.68 in the first round to advance β¦ placed 20th overall in the hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor meet in 51.05 to earn All-America Honorable Mention β¦ broke 50-seconds for the first time at NCAA West Prelims, going 49.98 to go to No. 5 in school history β¦ took third in the Pac-12 Championships 400m hurdles final, running a then-PR time of 50.00, as UW won the team title β¦ won his first three 400m hurdles races to open outdoors, winning the Peyton-Shotwell Invite in 50.16, the Stanford Invite in 50.61, and the Brutus Hamilton Invite in 50.49 β¦ closed out the indoor season with a 400-meter time of 47.77 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance meet, just .01 off his PR β¦ part of the victorious 4x400m relay at the Husky Classic that ran a season-best time of 3:10.27 β¦ second in the 400m at the UW Invite in 47.89 ... a Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll pick ... named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

2021: A productive freshman season that saw him make the Pac-12 Championship finals in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles β¦ placed eighth in both Pac-12 hurdle finals to score two team points β¦ in the Pac-12 110m hurdle prelims, ran a PR of 14.20 seconds to go to No. 9 in school history β¦ also ran his 400m hurdles season-best in the Pac-12 prelims, going 52.58 seconds β¦ fifth in the 400m hurdles at the West Coast Relays in 52.86 β¦ third in the 110m hurdles at the UW-WSU Dual in a wind-aided 14.22 seconds and was fourth in the 400m hurdles in 54.56 β¦ indoors, ran a 60m hurdles PR of 8.21 seconds at the Husky Classic for second β¦ had an indoor 400m season-best of 49.67 at the UW Invitational ... named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle β¦ parents are Jim and Christina Birchman β¦ has one older sister, Angela, and one older brother, Benjamin β¦ captured the Washington 3A state title in the 300-meter hurdles as a junior, winning in a PR of 38.27 seconds β¦ also took second at state in the 110m hurdles in 2019 β¦ did not get to compete as a senior due to the Covid-19 pandemic β¦ also qualified for state in the high jump, and had a 6-2 PR as a junior and won the Wesco league title β¦ took fifth in the 110m hurdles at the 2019 Brooks PR Invite with a PR time of 14.04.
