Moll Twins Advance To Final At World Championships
September 14, 2025 | Track & Field
Hana and Amanda will jump in the World Championships final this Wednesday, early Seattle time, at 4:10 a.m. streaming on Peacock
TOKYO, Japan – NCAA Champions Amanda and Hana Moll both cleared the last hurdle standing between them and the medal round of the World Athletics Championships. The rising Husky juniors from Olympia, Wash. each cleared three bars in today's pole vault qualifying round, as the field was cut in half from 28 women down to 14 at the National Stadium in Tokyo.
The Molls, repping Team USA with Amanda sporting a solid blue top and Hana wearing a striped red, white, and blue, were assigned to separate pits today. On Pit B, Amanda had a drama-free day, clearing all three bars on first attempts. The three heights needed to advance today were 13-11 1/4 followed by 14-7 1/4, and then 15-1.
Hana, on Pit A, had a second-attempt make at the opening bar, then needed a clutch third-attempt clearance at 14-7 1/4 to stay alive. She then made 15-1 on her second jump.
The field was expected to be cut to twelve women, unless the auto-advancing height of 15-5 was made by more than twelve, but a lengthy malfunction of the standards on one of the pits caused a long delay, and after jumping resumed and then finished at the 15-1 bar, officials decided to take the fourteen women still alive to the final, rather than make the entire field return to competition.
The Molls will be joined in the final by American teammates Sandi Morris and Katie Nageotte, the defending world champion. This will be the second-straight World Outdoor final for Hana, as she was ninth in 2023 just prior to starting her freshman year at Washington.
The final will be held at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Pacific time, which is 8:10 p.m. locally in Tokyo. Peacock will stream that session live.
The World Athletics Outdoor Championships are held every two years and are the pinnacle of track & field along with the Olympic Games.
