Women Finish 8th In Program Of The Year
June 16, 2026 | Cross Country, Track & Field
SEATTLE – Coming off their seventh-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, the Husky women's cross country/track & field program earned a No. 8 final ranking in the USTFCCCA Program of the Year awards.
The Program of the Year rankings require teams to qualify and score at all three of the NCAA Championships in an academic year, starting with cross country in the fall, then indoor track & field in the winter, and outdoor track & field in the spring. Missing out on one of those three eliminates a program from contention.
Seventeen women's teams qualified for the final rankings.
Washington was 19th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the fall, then tied for 23rd-place at NCAA Indoors in March. The Huskies had their second-highest NCAA Outdoor finish in program history to cap things off this past weekend, placing seventh.
This is also the second year in a row that the UW women had three different national champions. Hana Moll won the NCAA Indoor pole vault title (and was runner-up outdoors), Amanda Moll won the NCAA Outdoor pole vault title, and Sofia Cosculluela won the NCAA Outdoor heptathlon championship.
The Program of the Year rankings began in 2008-09. This is UW's sixth Top-10 finish and third in a row. The Huskies were ninth in 2023-24, then had their best ever finish at No. 2 in 2024-25.
