Dawgs Blow Past Rutgers 83-65 Thursday Night

SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team defended its home court Thursday night, adding an 83-65 victory over Rutgers to the win column.
With tonight's win, the Dawgs have clinched a spot in their first ever Big Ten Tournament.
Elle Ladine and Dalayah Daniels combined for 50 of the Huskies' 83 points as Washington (15-12, 6-9 Big Ten) shot 61.4 percent from the field and 48 percent from three-point range.
Ladine led all scorers with 28 points, doing so on 11-of-17 shooting. The junior tied a career-high six triples, which she also hit earlier this season in her 40-piece at Northwestern.
She also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.
Daniels put up a season-high 22 points, just two off her career-best, on 10-of-14 shooting (71.4%). She also added eight rebounds and two assists.
Hannah Stines tabbed 16 points on a night when she barely missed, connecting on 6-of-7 field goals and a career-high-tying four threes.
She also dished out a career-best seven assists to go along with four rebounds.
Sayvia Sellers added seven points and six assists.
Washington recorded 24 dimes, tied for the second most this season. The Huskies are now 3-0 when dishing out 20+ assists.
Washington outrebounded Rutgers 35-21, including doubling the Scarlet Knights (10-17, 2-14 Big Ten) on the defensive glass (30-15).
UW also recorded seven blocks, the third most in a game this season and the most in a conference game this year.
The Huskies' 48 percent from behind the arc was tied for the third highest three-point percentage this season.
UW outscored the Scarlet Knights across all four quarters, starting with a 24-17 advantage by the end of the first.
11 of Ladine's 28 game in the opening frame, including 4-of-8 shooting and three triples.
The guard jumped out to a 6-0 lead all on her own, draining her first two three-point attempts before Rutgers tied things up at 6-6.
The Huskies responded with am 8-0 run of their own, taking a 14-6 lead and never looked back.
Scoring balanced out in the second as the Huskies took an 11-point lead at the break.
Daniels, Ladine, and Stines each had six points in a 20-point Husky third as the Dawgs shot 64.3 percent in the quarter.
The Huskies improved on their efficiency even more in the fourth, connecting on 8-of-11 shots (72.7%) and 4-of-6 three-point attempts in the final 10 minutes of play.
Washington will conclude its regular season road schedule with trips to Nebraska and Minnesota. The Huskies and Huskers will face off Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. PT before heading to Minnesota for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
