SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team (14-11, 6-9) completed the series sweep against the Beavers Friday night with a 64-59 win over Oregon State (11-15, 3-12) in Alaska Airlines Arena.
This was the first season sweep of Oregon State since the 2012-13 season, and the first time the Huskies defeated OSU at home since 2015.
"First of all, I want to say it's amazing to be home," head coach Tina Langley said. "Our fans are tremendous, and they were great again as always. I think this team has a lot of confidence playing here because of the support that we have and the work that they've put in. I think we can continue to grow from this."
The Huskies got off to a hot start, going on a 10-0 run from tip. UW never trailed throughout.
Haley Van Dyke scored the first bucket of the game, a layup just eight seconds in after UW won the jump ball. Van Dyke went on to lead all scorers with a season high 17 points.
Dalayah Daniels (11 points), Elle Ladine (11), and Lauren Schwartz (10) all also scored in double digits.
The Huskies recorded 10 three-pointers, a season high, off a 47.6% three-point field goal percentage, higher than their season and conference averages.
Jayda Noble was a solid contributor, recording a career high and game-leading nine assists, team-leading eight rebounds, three steals, and a block.
"I think it was an all-around great team effort," Noble said. "We had people coming in off the bench and giving us great minutes…It was a good team effort for sure. I think we came in with a lot more confidence."
Washington out-rebounded the Beavers 37-28 and forced 21 turnovers, well over Oregon State's average of 14.9 turnovers per game in conference play.
"I like how we came out and played our team defense and rebounded the basketball," Langley said. "I thought we did a nice job sharing the basketball early and we did a great job executing and playing with pace."
Up next for the Huskies, Washington takes on Oregon for Senior Day on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. for the final home game of the season in Alaska Airlines Arena.
