
Washington Hosts North Carolina Central Thursday

SEATTLE -- Washington women's basketball (1-0, 0-0) continues its season opening week at home on Thursday, Nov. 9 when the Huskies host North Carolina Central (0-0, 0-0 MEAC) in Alaska Airlines Arena for a 5 p.m. PT tip off. In the preseason AP Top 25 poll, Washington received votes. This is the first meeting all-time between the programs. The game will be aired on the Washington Live Stream with Jason Dorow on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.
LAST TIME OUT
» Opened the 2023-24 season with dominant 76-28 win over Sacramento State, who finished last season as Big Sky regular season & tournament champions and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
» Sayvia Sellers, Chloe Briggs, Olivia Anderson, and Ari Long all made their Husky debuts.
» Every Husky who played, scored. Two Huskies scored in double digits (Elle Ladine and Long), and seven scored 6+ points (Dalayah Daniels, Hannah Stines, Ladine, Sellers, Briggs, Teagan Brown, Long).

LAST SEASON
The 2022-23 season saw the most overall and conference wins since the 2016-17 season. The Huskies made their first postseason appearance since 2017 when they earned being an automatic qualifier to the WNIT, and moving on to the Fab Four was the furthest Washington had advanced in program history.

Dalayah Daniels earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, as voted on by the media.
THE TEAM
Returners - Washington returns eight from last season's team, including three starters - Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, and Dalayah Daniels. Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Nia Lowery, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine also return. Schwartz, Noble, Daniels, and Ladine all received 2022-23 postseason honors from the conference.
Newcomers - The Husky newcomers are freshmen Olivia Anderson, Chloe Briggs, Ari Long, and Sayvia Sellers. The four were ESPN.com's 14th-ranked recruiting class for the Class of 2023. All four made their Husky debuts during the season opener.
National Signing Day (Class of 2024) - Washington welcomed two new Huskies to the program on National Signing Day (11.08.23) with Devin Coppinger and Annika Soltau. Coppinger, a 5-10 guard from Everson, Wash. (Nooksack Valley High School), will be staying in-state to come to Washington. Soltau, a 6-4 forward from Freiburg, Germany (Eisvogel USC Freiburg), is coming from across the world to join the Huskies.

Winter Supplies Drive - Washington women's and men's basketball will collectively host a winter supplies drive in partnership with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's "Season of Hope." The collection period will begin with both team's season openers on Monday, Nov. 6 and will continue through Dec. 9, when the men's team hosts Gonzaga. All new or gently used items will be collected at all basketball home games and can be dropped off inside the entrances of Alaska Airlines Arena.
