
Washington Returns Home With Game Against Seattle U

SEATTLE -- The Washington women's basketball team (5-1) returns home after its first road trip of the season to take on Seattle U (0-5)Β at Alaska Airlines Arena. This is the 13th meeting all-time between the two programs, with UW leading the series 12-0. The game tips off Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PT and will be aired on the Washington Live Stream (GoHuskies.com/Live). Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.Β

Washington went 1-1 at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic on their first road trip of the season. On Saturday vs. Santa Clara, Hannah Stines tied her career high in scoring with 13 points, and made a career-high 3 threes. Darcy Rees had a season-high 11 points. On Friday vs. Fordham, the Huskies held the Rams to 35.5% from the field, which was well below Fordham's season average heading into the game. Three Huskies scored in double digits - Emma Grothaus had a season-high 21, Stines had a career high 13, and Dalayah Daniels added 12. Jayda Noble recorded a season-high 9 points. Trinity Oliver had a career high 10 rebounds, and Haley Van Dyke tied her career high of 5 assists.

Washington returns eight Huskies from last season with Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, Haley Van Dyke, Nia Lowery, TT Watkins, Trinity Oliver, Lexi Griggsby, and Darcy Rees. Fans will see six new faces on the team this season, as the Huskies welcomed four freshmen from California - Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine - and two transfers, Dalayah Daniels (Cal) and Emma Grothaus (Lehigh).Β

Van Dyke earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, and Grothaus was one of 20 players named to the 2023 Lisa Lisa Award Watch List.
