March 05, 2020 | Volleyball
SEATTLE – The first of the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team rosters was announced this week, with all three returning Husky middle blockers named to the Gold Roster. Lauren Sanders was named to her third-straight U.S. CNT roster while Marin Grote and Sophie Summers will be first-time participants.
The roster of 28 was selected following the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held Feb. 21-23.
The CNT Gold will train July 5-12 in Anaheim at the American Sports Centers where they will compete side-by-side with the U.S. Women's National Team as it makes final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Another 28-player roster, the CNT Anaheim, will be named later this month.
Washington and Florida lead the way with three selections each on the roster.
Sanders will head into her senior season in 2020 while Grote will be a junior and Summers a redshirt freshman. In the summer of 2019, Sanders played on the CNT-Anaheim and in the summer of 2018 she was on the CNT-Detroit. Summers has previous Team USA experience, on the 2016 U.S. Girls Youth National Team.
