
Huskies Head Into Final Road Play

On the Road Again
This weekend the Huskies will travel to northern California to face Stanford and California for the second time this season. The Dawgs will first face California on Thursday at 3 p.m. And on Sunday the team will see Stanford at 5 p.m. Both matches will be aried live on the Pac-12 Network.
Last Time Out
16 minutes was all it took for the Dawgs to capture the win over Gonzaga Friday night. After taking the lead early in the first half, the team earned their tenth win of the season, finishing 3-1. The three goals tied the team's for the most goals scored in the first half, the other time being at UCLA on Sept. 29. The match broke the record for the fastest the team scored three goals this season.
The first scorer of the night was freshman Elijah Rice. Rice found a long pass from Justin Schmidt, where he took a shot from inside the box and netted the ball in the top right corner. Less than four minutes later Garret Jackson headed the ball into the net amongst chaos in the box after a free kick from Schmidt. The kick was tipped down by the Bulldog goalkeeper, Ben Willis, but Jackson stepped up to head the ball in the vacant net. In the sixteenth minute. Willis drew a foul from a tackle, giving the Dawgs a penalty kick. Steven Wright sent the ball straight down the middle while Willis dove right, allowing the ball to find the back of the net.
Last Time on the Road
The University of Washington men's soccer team battled with Oregon State for over 100 minutes in the pouring rain Friday night. After a golden goal in the second overtime, the Dawgs took home the win, finishing 2-1. Unable to find a scoring opportunity in the first overtime, the teams went into a second overtime. Mason Robertson was the hero, ending the match with a goal from Elijah Rice in the 101st minute.
Grateful- Handwalla Bwana
Freshman Handwalla Bwana has a story like none other. He was born in Mombasa, Kenya. the country's second largest city. After spending several years at boarding school Bwana, his mother and little brother started their journey to America. They spent nearly a decade living in inhumae conditions in a refugee camp. Robertson's Comeback Season
Last road match, senior Mason Robertson scored his fourth goal of the season , tying Handwalla Bwana for the most goals in 2016 for the team (4). Last season, Robertson suffered a season ending kneww injury. He spent the Spring and Summer rehabbing his knee and is now back and surpassing all expecatations. He has four goals, one assist and has played all 13 gmaes in 2016,
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Two weeks ago the sophomore clas participated in a walk to bring awareness to Domestic Violence. Held by a campus organization, male participants walked a mile in high heels, promoting the message "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes". The Huskies that participated were Quetin Pearosn, Ryan Degroot, Joey Parish, Corban Anderson and Andrew Conwell.
Scouting the Cardinal
After being unranked until conference play, Stanford finds themselves at No. 6. The Cardinal's offense is led by Foster Langsdorf who has scored six times in his last five matches. The team is currently made of 15 returning letter winners and five newcomers. The squad is currently 9-2-4 overall and 6-0-1 in the conference.
The Series with Stanford
Washington is 17-34-5 in 55 all-time meetings with the Cardinal. Last season, the Huskies broke Stanford's eight win streak when their match ended in a 0-0 draw. Later in the season on Nov. 2, the Huskies shatter the Cardinal's 66 day unbeaten streak when they won at home in Seattle, 2-1. It was the longest streak in Stanford history. The last time the two rivals saw each other was on Oct. 6, 2016. The Huskies fell to the Cardinal 0-1.
Scouting the Bears
California enters the week having just lost to SDSU. The team is led by trio Nick Lima, Christian Thierjung and Jose Carrera-Garcia, who were all named on Top Drawer's National Top 100 list in the preseason. The team has five freshmen, including Simon Lekressner from Bellevue, Wash. The squad is 5-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the conference.
The Series with California
Washington is 27-18-10 all-time with the Bears. The series last ended with a win over California on Oct. 9, 2016, 2-1.
Starting II
Two Huskies have started all 14 matches this season – Steven Wright and Luke Hauswirth. Wright has played 1,036 minutes while Hauswirth has played 1,211 minutes. Wright has three goals and two assists on the season. Hauswirth has one assist and one goal.

After starting unranked, the Dawgs entered the rankings at No. 16. They are currently ranked No. 16 in the NSCAA Coaches poll and No. 13 in the NCAA RPI. The squad is currently third in the conference behind Stanford (6-0-1) and SDSU (3-2-2).
Surpassed Goals
Last season proved to be an offensive struggle for the Huskies. In the entire 2015 season the team scored 18 goals. In the ten matches this season they have already surpassed that amount by scoring 26.
