2022 Pac-12 Pole Vault Runner-Up
2023: Hit new PRs in the pole vault indoors and out and advanced to NCAA West Prelims … tied for eighth at the Pac-12 Championships to grab half a point, making 13-3 ½ … at West Prelims, clearing 13-0 ¼ to place 27th overall … new outdoor PR of 13-5 ¼ at the Mt. SAC Relays … indoors, made a career-best 13-5 ¾ at the UW Invitational to finish seventh … cleared 12-11 at the Husky Classic and 12-11 ½ at the Ken Shannon meet … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2022: Ended her season with a clutch runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships, as she finished behind teammate Makenna Barton for a 1-2 Husky finish in the pole vault … in wet and windy Pac-12 conditions, she cleared 12-10 ¾ for second … tied for first at the Raleigh Relays with a make of 12-9 ½ … won the UW-WSU Dual pole vault with a 12-5 ½ make … indoors, had a season-best clearance of 12-3 ½ at the Husky Classic … a Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll member.
2021: Competed at her first Pac-12 Championships in the pole vault … started the outdoor season with a first-place finish at the Jim Bush Legends Invite, clearing 12-9 ½ … went 12-1 ½ at the Pac-12 Championships to place 16th … indoors, had a best of 12-2 ½ at the UW Invitational, and also made 12-2 at the Husky Classic … made the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2020 (Indoor Track; Outdoor Season Canceled): Strong freshman campaign indoors, with a big PR in the pole vault of 13-5 1/4 at the UW Invitational … scored at her first conference meet, tying for sixth at the MPSF Championships with a make of 12-7 1/2 … made 12-8 at the Don Kirby Invite in New Mexico … fourth at the UW Last Chance Meet at 12-6 1/4 … earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
High School and Personal: Born in Bellevue, Washington … parents are Chris and Kerste Helms … has one older brother, Gabriel … mother, Kerste Helms, was an All-American heptathlete at Principia College and holds the school record in the 300-meter hurdles and was inducted into its athletics Hall of Fame … attended the International School but competed for Newport High School … won the 2019 Washington 4A state title in the pole vault by clearing a career-best of 13-feet even which was the state meet record … also won the Sea-King title clearing 12-6 and the Kingco title making 12-3 … only began competing in track and field as a junior after competing for 14 years in club gymnastics through her sophomore year of high school … only began to really focus on the pole vault as a senior, previously running hurdles and high and triple jumping as well … earned a bronze medal for the Congressional Award, the United States Congress’ award for young Americans.
