2023: Placed 12th in the 200-meters at the Pac-12 Championships, running 21.16 β¦ had a season-best 200-meters at the Mt. SAC Relays, going 20.97 with a +2.6 tailwind β¦ top wind-legal time of the season was 21.09 at the Desert Heat Classic β¦ indoors, posted the No. 5 200-meters time in school history with a 21.19 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, converted to 21.26 for altitude β¦ had a 400-meters PR of 48.61 at the Husky Classic β¦ opened his season winning the Spokane Invite 200-meters in 21.28 on Dec. 10 and also ran on the winning UW 4x400m relay which clocked a 3:11.67 β¦ the menβs 4x400m relay clocked the fastest time by a Husky 4x4 in 17 years when it went 3:07.19 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, converted for altitude to 3:07.63, which ranks No. 3 in school history β¦ ran one 60-meters, going 6.78 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite β¦ named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2022: Impressive freshman season took him all the way to the World U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, where he made the 200-meter finals for Turkey, placing eighth overall β¦ won Turkish U23 titles at 100-meters and 200-meters β¦ qualified for NCAA West Prelims in the 200-meters, placing 28th in a time of 20.97 β¦ tied the UW Freshman Record with a winning time of 20.70 at the UW-WSU Dual, and also won the 4x100m relay in 40.11 and won the 100-meters in 10.63 in Pullman β¦ at the Pac-12 Championships, was 15th in the 100-meters and 13th in the 200-meters, and 10th on the 4x100m and 9th on the 4x400m β¦ went to No. 9 in school history in the 100-meters in his outdoor debut, going 10.47 at the Raleigh Relays β¦ indoors, was the 400-meter leg on the Husky DMR that placed seventh at NCAAs to earn First Team All-America honors β¦ also ran the 400m leg on the DMR when it set the No. 3 time in NCAA history, going 9:21.10 at the Arkansas Qualifier β¦ DMR was named USTFCCCA National Athletes of the Week following the Arkansas record β¦ tied for No. 9 in school history with a 60-meter dash PR of 6.78 at the Husky Classic β¦ went to No. 8 in school history indoors in the 200m, running 21.43 at the WSU Invitational β¦ named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
High School and Personal: Born in Kirkland, Wash. β¦ father is Teoman Smith and mother is Anne-Berit Smith β¦ has one younger sister, Thea β¦ father was a UW track letterwinner from 1985-89 and was a member of the Turkish National Team, and a Turkish National Champion in the sprints β¦ mother was an All-American in cross country skiing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, coming to the U.S. from her native Norway and going on to place top-four at the 1988 U.S. Winter Olympic Trials β¦ a national champion in the 60-meter dash, winning the 2021 AAU Indoor National Championships in a time of 6.84 seconds, and was third in the 200m at the same meet in 21.66 β¦ the second-fastest 100m time in Washington state history with a time of 10.36 as a senior in 2021 β¦ took third at the 2021 Brooks PR Invite 100-meters in 10.45 seconds β¦ at the 2021 USATF Junior Olympic Nationals, was third in the 100m in 10.71 into a -2.3 headwind β¦ the runner-up in the 100-meters at the 2020 AAU Junior Olympic Nationals in a time of 10.64 β¦ last opportunity to compete at state was as a sophomore in 2019, where he was third in the 200-meters β¦ a member of National Honors Society.
