13th-Ranked Huskies Head For Big Tens In Indy
February 25, 2026 | Track & Field
SEATTLE – Conference titles are up for grabs for the first time in 2026, as the Husky track and field teams travel to Indiana for their second go at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships. The expanded three-day meet runs from Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28, at the Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
Big Ten Plus and Runnerspace.com will both offer live streaming of the action from Indianapolis, as the full 18 teams assemble. Competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. Pacific / 11:30 a.m. Eastern time all three days.
UW comes into the meet ranked No. 13 nationally in both the men's and women's USTFCCCA rankings. Illinois is ranked No. 1 nationally on the women's side, with No. 6 USC, No. 7 Oregon, and No. 11 Nebraska ahead of the Dawgs. The Ducks are ranked No. 2 on the men's side, with No. 6 Penn State then the Dawgs coming in as the third-highest-ranked B1G team. The USTFCCCA rankings do not always give the best hint at conference meet scoring potential, however, as they are meant to rate scoring strength at the national meet.
Along with the prestige and drama of the conference titles, also on the line is the final chance to improve performances for NCAA Indoor Championship qualification. The top-16 men and women in each event and top-12 relays will make the cut for NCAAs in Fayetteville on Mar. 13-14.
Last season, in their first appearance at the championships, Washington tied for the second-most overall titles with six, sweeping the men's and women's pole vault (Scott Toney and Amanda Moll) and 3,000-meter titles (Amina Maatoug and Nathan Green), and adding the men's DMR and women's 800m (Chloe Foerster). The UW men were fourth last year and the women finished fifth.
Thursday's action features track finals in the 5k and the DMR, and field event finals in the women's pole vault, plus all five events of the women's pentathlon. Amanda Moll will not be defending her title in the pole vault, as an injury will keep her out the remainder of the indoor season, but sister Hana Moll is the No. 1-ranked women's vaulter in the NCAA and will look to move up from her silver position last year.
Friday does not have any track finals, but is full of prelims on the track. In the field, Ava Washburn will look to make the women's long jump podium.
Saturday will feature all finals on the track, plus Huskies competing in the field in the men's and women's triple jumps, the men's high jump, and men's pole vault, where Jimmy Rhoads is the top-ranked contender in a strong field.
