SEATTLE – All of a sudden the final regular season weekend of the regular season is at hand for UW Track. The Huskies travel to a pair of meets hosted by former conference rivals this weekend, with just two weeks until their first Big Ten Outdoor Championships. A small group of distance runners are headed to Corvallis, Ore. for the OSU High Performance Meet on Friday evening, then on Saturday, a larger squad made up of sprinters, throwers, jumpers and vaulters competes in Tucson, Ariz. at the Desert Heat Classic.
Both squads remain in the USTFCCCA Top-25. The Husky women's team sits at No. 13 nationally this week with the men coming in at No. 23.
First up is a group of nine distance runners set to race in Corvallis on Friday with the first distance races starting at 4:20 p.m. The Dawgs will be focusing on the 1,500-meters, 5,000-meters, and the steeplechase.
Saturday, the Husky jumpers, sprinters and throwers will be in Tucson for a tune-up. Field events begin at 11 a.m. and the first track event goes at 4:30 p.m. with action continuing until approximately 10 p.m. to beat the desert heat in the meet's name.
