
NGWSD Celebration: Women’s Hoops Hosts No. 16 Maryland Sunday Afternoon

SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team (14-9, 5-6 Big Ten) will welcome the 16th-ranked Maryland Terrapins to Alaska Airlines Arena Sunday afternoon for UW's National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Elise Woodward (play-by-play) and Mary Murphy (analyst) will call the action on B1G+. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.
Sunday's game will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day, which was earlier this week on Feb. 5.

The Huskies return home after splitting the two-game road trip at No. 8 Ohio State and Penn State.
Washington snapped its three-game conference skid with an 82-71 win at Penn State, driven by a career-high 28 points from Hannah Stines.
SCOUTING REPORT
No. 16 Maryland boasts an 18-5 record (8-4 B1G) and is coming off a 79-61 win at Oregon Thursday. The win over the Ducks was head coach Brenda Frese's 600th career win at Maryland, who is in her 23rd season.
Washington head coach Tina Langley served as associate head coach on Frese's staff at Maryland from 2008-2015, helping lead the Terrapins on Final Four runs in 2014 and 2015.
Washington associate head coach David Adkins was also on the Maryland staff for that postseason run, guiding the Terrapins from 2009-2014. Adkins' daughter, Ryland, in currently the director of basketball operations for the Terrapins.
Washington is 3-0 all-time against the Terrapins. Most recently, the 7th-seed Huskies upset No. 2 seed Maryland 74-65 in the NCAA Second Round in College Park on March 21, 2016.
