Washington Falls At Oregon State, Drops Series To No. 2 Beavers
March 23, 2024 | Baseball
Calvin Kirchoff had a tough day on the mound, allowing eight runs in a losing effort.
The Huskies found themselves in a big hole early, with Oregon State sending 14 men to the plate and scoring 10 runs in the first.
Sam DeCarlo pulled back a run for the Huskies in the 3rd, launching a no-doubt, solo shot to left. However, the Beavers responded with two runs in their half, going up 12-1.
DeCarlo led off the sixth with his second hit of the game, with Cam Clayton and Aiva Arquette following with singles of their owns to load the bases with no outs. Poised to potentially cut into the deficit, a double play ended the threat of a big inning as UW settled for one.
As both teams emptied their bullpens for the remainder of the game, UW kept the Beavers at bay until the seventh and eighth, when OSU added two and four runs, respectively.
The Huskies will finish out the series with the Beavers on Sunday, taking on OSU at 1:05 p.m. PT. The game will be available for streaming through Pac-12 Insider.
