
Huskies Lose In Road Battle At No. 2 UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Washington women's basketball (12-6, 2-5) fell to at No. 2 UCLA (16-2, 5-2) 44-62 in a battle Friday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Huskies came out fighting, showing a lot of energy and toughness against one of the best teams in the nation.
"I thought we came out and really battled tonight," head coach Tina Langley said. "We played tough and efficient on the defensive end of the floor. While we have to continue growing our execution down the stretch, there is a lot of good to build on."
Washington held UCLA to their lowest field goal percentage of the season at 30.7%, and the 62 points scored by the Bruins were the fewest points they scored all season.
The Huskies grabbed 37 boards against a UCLA team that had been allowing conference opponents only 31.0 rebounds per game.
The first half was a defensive battle, with UW only behind by two at halftime, 21-23.
Dalayah Daniels led the Huskies in scoring with 14 points. She also added seven rebounds and four blocks.
Elle Ladine was the other Husky in double-digit scoring with 13 points, and also had seven rebounds.
Lauren Schwartz also contributed seven rebounds, her UW career high.
Chloe Briggs had a physical game, and recorded six points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Next up, Washington finishes their L.A. road trip at No. 11 USC on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 12 p.m. PT.
