Washington Defeats Kansas State to Move On to WNIT Great 8

SEATTLE – Washington women's basketball (18-14, 7-11 Pac-12) is moving on in the WNIT after defeating Kansas State (19-17, 5-13 Big 12) 55-48 Friday night in Alaska Airlines Arena in front of an electric crowd.
"I'm proud of these young women for the way that they continue to fight and stay together," head coach Tina Langley said.
Trinity Oliver scored the first points for the Huskies, and didn't stop there. Oliver finished the game with 17 points, led both teams with eight rebounds, and recorded a career high four steals.
Dalayah Daniels and Oliver led the team in scoring, both with 17. It was another total team effort, as Lauren Schwartz put up nine points, Haley Van Dyke added four assists and seven rebounds, and Jayda Noble recorded six rebounds and her 50th steal of the season.
The Huskies started out hot in the second half, going on an 11-0 run, and putting up 20 points to Kansas State's seven in the third quarter.
Washington out-rebounded Kansas State 35-29, and the Husky defense held the Wildcats to 34% shooting, under their average field goal percentage this season.
"I'm super proud of this team and our defensive effort and just never giving up," Oliver said.
Up next for the Huskies, Washington hosts Oregon (20-14, 7-11 Pac-12) in the WNIT Great 8 on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. PT in Alaska Airlines Arena.
"We're playing for each other, overall, and we don't want to stop being together," Langley said. "It's a great gift and we're very grateful."
