Washington Falls in First Round of Pac-12 Tournament

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The No. 8-seed Washington women's basketball team (15-14, 7-11) lost a close battle to No. 9-seed Oregon (17-13, 7-11) 50-52 Wednesday afternoon in the First Round of the Pac-12 Tournament at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
"First of all, I'm just really proud of this team and all the work that they have put in all season," head coach Tina Langley said. "Love the way we came out and competed today. It's two great teams playing each other."
The game saw eight lead changes as Washington fought to advance.
Trinity Oliver got the scoring started for the team, and was one of four Huskies in double digits, finishing with 10 points. Oliver gave all-out effort, drawing – and making – two three-point plays.
Haley Van Dyke led the Huskies in scoring with 12 points, and also recorded six rebounds.
Dalayah Daniels recorded her ninth career double-double, and her fifth as a Husky, putting up 10 points and 11 rebounds. It was her third time recording a double-double against a conference opponent this season. Daniels also had three blocks and two steals.
One of those steals by Daniels led to a layup by freshman Hannah Stines in the second quarter, electrifying the Husky bench.
Stines finished the day as the fourth Husky in double digits, scoring 11 points.
Washington out-rebounded Oregon 37-35, and the Husky defense held the Ducks to a 35.7% field goal percentage – under their game average.
Washington's No. 8 seed was their best seed since 2017. The Huskies will wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.
