ATLANTA, Ga. – Washington women's basketball 2024 signee Devin Coppinger has been named to the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watch List, the Naismith Awards announced today.
Coppinger signed her National Letter of Intent with Washington on November 8, and is one of the 50 girls named to the preseason watch list.
The 5-10 guard from Everson, Wash. (Nooksack Valley High School), will be staying in-state to come to Washington. Coppinger, a four-star recruit, was rated No. 35 in the ESPNW Top 100 rankings, and received a scout grade of 95 from ESPN. The two-time Northwest Conference Player of the Year led her high school team to their first-ever WIAA 1A State Championship, where she was named MVP.
On National Signing Day, Washington head coach Tina Langley said of Coppinger: "Devin is one of the best two-way guards in the country. She scores the ball at all three levels, defends multiple positions, and plays with a toughness that elevates her team. On and off the court, her work ethic, drive, coach-ability, competitiveness, and selflessness set her apart as a leader. She comes from an incredible family and community who exemplify the values we strive for here at Washington. Her decision to stay close to home means the world to us, and we feel so honored to have her as a part of our program."
Washington is one of five Pac-12 schools represented on the watch list.
