Dawgs Fall To No. 9 Ducks
October 29, 2023 | Volleyball
SEATTLE – Washington kept it close for two sets but No. 9 Oregon proved too good today as the Ducks earned a 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 win in front of a season-high 4,588 fans at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies lost their fourth-straight to drop to 13-10 and 4-8 in conference play.
Stats leaned heavily to the Ducks except at the service line where Oregon missed 18 serves. But Oregon hit .442 compared to a .149 percentage for the Huskies. The Ducks had 41 digs compared to 24 for UW and Oregon had an 8.0 to 2.0 lead in blocks.
"We just have to get better. I don't think we were playing with a lot of confidence today," said Head Coach Leslie Gabriel. "I think Friday night's match shook them up a little bit because I didn't see that fight we normally see in them when we're out there competing. There were moments where we had chances to take a set, especially in the second, and I didn't see us go for it like we have, so that was a little bit disappointing."
"We talked our culture and things that we believe in and we just have to get back in the gym on Monday and see if we can get a little bit better, so that when we can step on the court we feel good again and can go for it like we have in the past."
Madi Endsley's eight kills led the team, and Audra Wilmes had seven. Molly Wilson had 21 assists and three kills on five attempts. Lauren Bays returned to the libero role today and had six digs.
UP NEXT: Washington visits the Bay Area for the final time in the Pac-12. The Huskies take on California on Friday, Nov. 3, and then continue on to Stanford on Sunday, Nov. 5. The next home match will be Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. against USC.
