Washington Loses Close One at No. 19 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Washington women's basketball team (10-9, 2-7) battled No. 19 Arizona (16-4, 6-3) in the desert Friday night, but fell 54-61.
Haley Van Dyke, in her 125th career game as a Husky, led all scorers with 16 points, a new season high. She also recorded eight rebounds, tying her season high.
Lauren Schwartz (13 points) and Hannah Stines (11) were the other two Huskies in double digits on the night.
At halftime, the Huskies led 23-19, and the defense was holding Arizona to just 32% from the field, showing all-out effort. By the end of the third quarter, the Huskies had the one-point lead, but the AP Top-25 Wildcats pulled away in the fourth.
The 61 points scored by Arizona was their second-lowest scoring game in conference play so far this season. The Husky defense held Arizona to 41% from the field on the game, below their season (46%) and conference (45%) averages. Washington also held Arizona to 27% from three, well below their season and conference averages. The Huskies out-rebounded the Wildcats 35-31.
