January 12, 2023 | Women's Basketball
CHICAGO, Ill. – Washington women's basketball 2023 signees Chloe Briggs, Ari Long, and Sayvia Sellers have been named 2023 McDonald's All American nominees.
Briggs, Long, and Sellers signed National Letters of Intent with the Huskies on November 9, and were three of the four signees who made up Washington's 14th-ranked recruiting class.
The high school standouts were three of 722 girls and boys basketball players named. Briggs and Long were two of 20 girls from California nominated. Sellers was the only girl – or boy – from Alaska nominated.
"Providing a national platform to elevate and honor these players is what the McDonald's All American Games is all about," said Joe Wootten, McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. "We've been doing this for over four decades and have seen some truly amazing kids come through this iconic program. That's why this moment is so special…the history, prestige and all that comes with it. These players are joining a long list of icons to be named nominees to the Games and it's something that will never be taken away."
Briggs, a 5-10 guard from Ontario, Calif. (Ontario Christian HS), was rated No. 93 in ESPNW Top 100 rankings.
Long, a 6-0 guard from Moreno Valley, Calif. (Valley View High School), was rated No. 46 in the ESPNW Top 100 rankings.
Sellers, a 5-7 point guard from Anchorage, Alaska (Anchorage Christian High School), was the highest-rated signee (No. 28) in Washington's class, according to the ESPNW Top 100 rankings.
Long and Sellers had previously been one of 50 named to the 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Girls Trophy Watch List. Sellers became one of 25 named to the Naismith High School Girls Midseason Team.
The McDonald's All American Games Selection committee will reveal the top 24 girls on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
