SEATTLE - With just two meets left before the postseason, Husky Track & Field is on the hunt for NCAA Prelim qualifying marks down in Fresno, Calif. this week for the West Coast Relays. Fresno State serves as the host for a huge day of action this Friday, Apr. 30, at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Temperatures could be on the rise and the Huskies will look to rise to the challenge in their final regular season road trip. Nex week will be the final home meet with the Ken Shannon Invitational, and then it's on to the Pac-12 Championships, May 14-16.
Prior to the full Friday meet program, the men's and women's hammer throws will be held on Thursday. Beatrice Asomaning will throw for the women, and Jayden White, Connor Jost, and Sam Van Peursem go for the men.
Friday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the field events. The first track event featuring Husky athletes will be the men's 110m hurdles at 2:30 p.m.
Women's sprinters set to compete on Friday include Aaliyah Wilson, Darhian Mills, Olivia Ribera, Victoria Gersch, and the multi trio of Ida Eikeng, Hannah Rusnak, and Lyndsey Lopes.
On the men's side, Kemuel Santana, Julian Body, Jonathan Birchman, Cass Elliott, and multi-eventer Parker Kennedy will all toe the line.
Running the 800-meters for the women is slated to be Carley Thomas, the 2020 indoor All-American returning after suffering a broken leg in the summer of 2020. Marlena Preigh and Madison Heisterman are in the 800-meter invite.
The 1,500-meter invite will feature Anna Gibson and Heisterman. Also racing 1,500-meters is Sophie O'Sullivan. Jonah Wilson, Nolan Such, and Sam Van Peursem will all do shot and discus for the men, with Elijah Mason focusing on the discus. Jayden White will throw discus in addition to the hammer. Zach Annanie is slated to make his season debut in the javelin, along with Dalton Sugg and Brady Gockel.
