2022: Competed in the NCAA West Prelims once again in the shot put and finished ninth at the Pac-12 Championships … at NCAA Prelims in Arkansas, was 32nd overall in the shot put, throwing 57-9 ½ … outdoor season-best of 59-5 ¾ came in a win at the Fresno State Invitational … won the shot put at the UW-WSU Dual going 58-6 … season-best hammer throw of 190-7 at the Beach Invitational … indoors, took fifth at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite with a season-best put of 60-11 ¼ … also went over 60-feet at the Pac-12 Invitational, going 60-5 ¼ … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team … a Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll member.
2021: A Pac-12 scorer and NCAA West Prelims qualifier in his first full season, throwing the shot, discus, and hammer outdoors and the shot and weight indoors … took seventh-place in the shot put at his first Pac-12 Championships with a best of 59-9 ½ … at NCAA West Prelims, was just four spots away from advancing to nationals as he placed 16th with an outdoor PR of 61-2 ¾ good for No. 10 in school history … had a hammer throw PR of 194-0 at the UW-WSU Dual for third, and was second in the shot put at 59-11 ¾ … best discus throw of 162-3 at the West Coast Relays … second in the shot put at the Jim Bush Legends Invite at 59-9 ½, third in the hammer at 187-4, and fifth in the discus at 160-6 … indoors, set the UW freshman record in the shot put in his first collegiate competition, going 62-10 ¾ … that mark ranked 19th nationally and was the top mark by a freshman, and also was No. 5 in school history … tossed 60-4 ¼ at the Husky Classic and had a weight throw season-best of 59-1 ½ … made the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
2020 (Indoor Season; Outdoor Season Canceled): Redshirted his first indoor season.
High School and Personal: Parents are Bradley and Melody Van Peursem … the youngest of four siblings including Daniel, Gabrielle and Arielle … father was a discus thrower for Western Washington and sister Arielle runs track and plays soccer at Whitworth … captured the state 1A titles in both the discus and the shot put as a senior … had a shot put PR of 64-6 at the district meet in 2019 that ranked him 14th nationally and tops in the state … threw a discus PR to win state as a senior, going 181-2 … also won the discus state title as a junior and was runner-up in the shot … a two-time WIAA Athlete of the Week … graduated with honors and a grade point average of 3.94.
