SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies (18-17, 5-10) return to Pac-12 action this weekend and will host No. 15 Arizona State (30-8, 12-6) for a three-game series at Husky Ballpark.
Things have definitely been a struggle in Pac-12 action lately for UW. After starting 5-1 in Conference action, the Huskies have dropped nine-straight. Six of those game were against Oregon State and Stanford -- teams ranked No. 2 and 3, respectively, in the polls. It doesn't get any easier this weekend as the Sun Devils were the last team in the nation to lose a game in 2019 and they bring in a potent offense ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12 to Montlake.
A winning series this weekend could go a long way in how 2019 plays out. Through 35 games last season, UW had the exact same record they currently have at 18-17. In 2018, the Huskies lost the first two games of a series a Cal before winning the final game of the series for their 18th win. From there, UW would win its next five series to earn a spot in the NCAA Conway Regional and eventually play their way into the CWS.
The weekend series will not be on television, but can be followed on the Pac-12 streaming platform with Bill Abelson calling all the action. WHO'S HOT:
– Colton Cassinelli was used strictly as a pinch-hitter until joining the lineup regularly on April 8 vs. Cal Baptist. He was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI in his first start that night and is 9 for 20 since his insertion in the lineup. He has since started three times at first base and twice as designated hitter.
– Jack Enger has 28 strikeouts in 15.2 April innings, by far leading the team in K's during the month. In his last outing, he struck out a career-high seven Pilots in 3.2 innings on Tuesday. He is 1-0 with a 1.15 ERA over for April and has yet to allow an earned run in Pac-12 play.
– Connor Blair is hitting .365 (19x52) in April to raise his batting average from a pre-April .236 to .290. He has recorded multi-hit in 4 of the last 5 games and multi-RBIs in 3 games during that same span. He was 5-for-5 with two doubles and a walk on April 15 at Santa Clara, the first Husky with five hits since Austin Rei in 2014. Blair also has an eight-game hit streak.
– An 0-for-15 slide has cooled off Nick Kahle's overall numbers, but he still is hitting .471 in Pac-12 play (good for second) and leads with a .594 on-base percentage though 15 Conference games.

• Jones Milestones: Junior Jordan Jones has passed the 150 strikeout and 200 inning plateaus for his career. He needs 17 K's to become the sixth player in UW history to go 200/200 in both categories.
