UW To Make First Trip To Princeton 3-Mile Chase
October 23, 2019 | Men's Rowing
A Washington men's varsity eight will compete this Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Princeton 3-Mile Chase Princeton's home course on Lake Carnegie.
The trip marks the first time that the Huskies have ever participated in the annual event, a three-mile head race regatta for eight different men's and women's boat categories held on Lake Carnegie, the same venue were the famed 1936 UW men's eight earned the right to represent the United States at the Berlin Olympic Games.
Washington will compete in the first event of the day, the men's varsity heavyweight 8+, which starts at 9:00 a.m. ET/6:00 a.m. PT. That event includes a total of 51 entries, mainly from the Ivy League and other East Coast programs, most of which have multiple crews entered.
"We're really looking forward to this trip," said UW men's head coach Michael Callahan. "It's exciting to try something new, and it's a great way to mark our progress during the fall."
Following the trip to Princeton, the Huskies' next action comes Sunday, Nov. 3, in the annual Head of the Lake regatta, which runs from Lake Union through the Montlake Cut an into Lake Washington.
