Montlake Cut
Women's Rowing
Men's Rowing
First race: 1960
The 2,000-meter sprint begins from a floating start parallel to the 520 Bridge in Lake Washington and runs east to west through the Montlake Cut and to the finish line near the mouth of Portage Bay in Lake Union. Coxswains notice the difficulty making calls once they enter the Cut, where fans line both sides and the overhanging Montlake Bridge, creating an atmosphere akin to rowing through the stadium. Over 40,000 fans come out to cheer on the Huskies for the annual Windermere Cup.
