SEATTLE – The Washington Huskies fought hard but took the loss 2-0 against #1 Stanford on Thursday. The game was largely fought in the midfield, with just two major moments resulting in goals. The Huskies matched Stanford shot-for-shot, with totals ending at 8-8.

Ameera Hussen led the Huskies in shots, firing four, including two on goal off dangerous free kicks. Mireya Grey and Summer Yates also had shots on goal. Siena Ruelas made three saves in goal for the Huskies.

"We tried to match what they do well and take it away and I thought we did," said Lesle Gallimore. "We were defending the right way… if we have an effort like that against many of the other teams we've played, then we're in the win column."

25:46\| A hand ball was called in the box against the Huskies, with Stanford taking the lead on the ensuing penalty kick. 50:57 \| Stanford's counterattack cost the Huskies. The Cardinal found a seam on the left, eventually firing a curving shot inside the far post.

		NOTES
Hussen's four shots give her 31 on the year, making her the fourth Husky with at least 30. Sianna Siemonsma has at least one shot in 13 of her last 14 appearances. Washington held Stanford under ten shots for the first time this season. Stanford had recorded at least 15 shots in every other game.
