
Huskies Set To Host Montana State In Saturday's First Round

SEATTLE -- The No. 12 University of Washington women's basketball team will open the NCAA Tournament this weekend at Alaska Airlines Arena, as the No. 3-seeded Huskies host 14-seeded Montana State. The game is slated to tip off Saturday at 6 p.m. PT.
The game will air live on ESPN2 with Pam Ward and Gail Goestenkors on the call. The contest will also be carried on AM 1150 KKNW and gohuskies.leanplayer.com with Steve Sandmeyer. Live stats will be available at GoHuskies.com.

The winner between Washington and Montana State will face the winner of No. 6 seed Oklahoma and No. 11 seed Gonzaga on Monday (March 20) at a time to be determined. The Huskies have been placed in the Oklahoma City Regional.
Washington is making its 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and third-straight under fourth-year head coach Mike Neighbors. The Huskies enter postseason play with a 27-5 overall record, the second-most wins in program history, including a 15-3 mark in Pac-12 play.
Washington is led by the elite duo of seniors Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor who lead the nation in scoring and rebounding, respectively. Plum is averaging 31.7 points per game while Osahor averages a double-double with 15.8 points and 15.3 rebounds. Osahor has accounted for an NCAA-leading 27 double-doubles this season. Aarion McDonald (9.3), Natalie Romeo (9.0) and Katie Collier (6.5) round out the starting five.

For the first time since 1995, the Huskies will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament and this will be the 11th season in program history Washington has hosted an NCAA Tournament game, owning a 10-1 record at home. The Huskies are 19-18 all-time in the tournament and 9-6 in first-round games.
The Huskies won a program-record four contests in last year's tournament to advance to the first semifinal in program history. In Neighbors' second season at the helm, the sixth-seeded Huskies fell in the first round to Miami, 86-80.
SERIES HISTORY VS. MONTANA STATE
Washington and Montana State have met 14 previous times with the Huskies leading the all-time series, 13-1. Washington is undefeated at home against the Bobcats (6-0). Most recently, the two teams met on Dec. 15, 2013 in Seattle with the Huskies winning 83-60, led by Plum's 19 points.
The last time Montana State made the NCAA Tournament was in 1993 when the team faced Washington and lost in the opening round, 80-51.
