Today's game marked the regular season home finale for Washington. The Huskies will play their final three games of the regular season on the road at Arizona State (Feb. 26), Arizona (Feb. 28) and at Washington State (March 6).
Washington seniors Michelle Augustavo and Heidi McNeill played their final regular season home games at Bank of America Arena today. They were honored in a special pre-game ceremony.
The Husky loss dropped Washington's lead in the all-time series with USC to 28-23. The Women of Troy swept the season series and have now won the last three-straight games.
The Huskies fell to 0-14 when trailing at halftime this season. Today's 24-point loss was its worst since the 30-point defeat to California, Feb. 6.
Redshirt-freshman Mackenzie Argens' eight points today missed matching her career-high in scoring by just two. Argens' career-high is 10, set in the Huskies' earlier season meeting with USC in Los Angeles on Jan. 22.
Junior guard Christina Rozier notched her second double-figure rebounding game of the season with a team-high 10 rebounds. The effort was just one shy of equaling her career-high set vs. Arizona, Jan. 29.
USC opened the game with a 14-2 run, a span in which the Huskies were just 1-of-14 from the field. UW made just its second field goal of the game at the 11:47 mark on a jumper from sophomore Sarah Morton. After Washington closed to within seven points (20-13) at 6:26, USC built its largest lead of the opening half with an 11-0 run to go up by 18 (31-13) with 3:28 to go until the intermission.
After trailing by 12 at halftime (19-31), the Huskies opened the second-half outscoring USC 10-5 to close within seven (29-36) at the 15:36 mark. But the Women of Troy ran away with a 16-3 spurt to lead by 20 (52-32) with 9:07 remaining. USC's largest lead was a 26-point advantage (76-50) with 2:09 left in the game.
