Senior Giuliana Mendiola scored 15 of the Huskies' final 17 points. The only other Husky to score in the final 9:28 of the contest was freshman Breanne Watson, who laid in an assist from Mendiola with 22 seconds to play. In all, Washington hit 13 shots in the second half, of which six were by Mendiola, and another three came off of Mendiola's assists.
In her final collegiate game, senior Giuliana Mendiola added six more assists to her UW career record, which will stand at 672 - 113 more than any other player in Washington history.
For the second game in a row, seniors Giuliana Mendiola and Andrea Lalum each topped the 20-point plateau. The feat has been accomplished by a pair of Huskies in the same game eight times this season, including seven by Lalum and Mendiola.
Andrea Lalum's 18 first-half points were more than the Husky senior had recorded in all but two of the previous 14 games. Including her 22 points in Friday's win over Pepperdine, Lalum averaged 22.5 points in WNIT play.
The double-double 22 points and 11 rebounds for Creighton's Angie Janis marked her fifth double-double of the season, and the seventh of her Blue Jays' career. Janis' points were just four off of her career-high, while her rebounds were just one shy of a career-best.
Senior Andrea Lalum was 7-of-10 from the field in the first half, accounting for more than half of Washington's 13 first-half field goals. While Lalum was 7-of-10 (.700), her teammates were just 6-of-22 (.273). The second half was much the same story, though it was Mendiola (6-of-11, .545) pacing the team, while her teammates struggled (7-of-21, .333).
Creighton scored 22 of its 35 first-half points either off UW turnovers (13 pts) or on second-chance shots (nine pts).
Creighton junior Laura Spanheimer scored 21 points, marking her fourth 20-point effort in the team's last six games.
Sunday's game marked the first time since Jan, 8 that the Blue Jays put two players over 20 points, with both Laura Spanheimer (21) and Angie Janis (22) accomplishing the feat.
